Covid-19 in Cape Verde

Although Cape Verde has been severely affected by different waves of COVID-19, the country has managed the pandemic well. Cape Verde has significantly expanded its testing capacity and invested heavily in mass vaccination, having immunized the vast majority of the eligible population. The fatality rate for the disease in the country (approximately 0.9%) is one of the lowest in the African region.

Covid-19 and inter-island and international travel requirements for Cape Verde

Currently (2023), Cape Verde does not require a Covid-19 test or vaccination certificate either for inter-island travel or for people arriving in the country. The update is in the Official Bulletin of September 14, 2022, which reads:

1. For the purposes of inter-island and international travel to Cape Verde, passengers and crew traveling by air and sea are no longer required to present a valid COVID Certificate or a negative screening test result.

2. For international trips originating in Cape Verde, the requirement for COVID Certificates or testing depends on the guidelines of the health authorities of the destination countries.
