The fixed and mobile telephone service in Cape Verde is very affordable and there is mobile and internet coverage almost everywhere. The price of a SIM card is 100 escudos (around €1) with both national mobile providers. However, your phone needs to be unlocked for other operators in order to use a different SIM card.

You can buy SIM chips or cards at international airports, in shops and from street vendors in urban centers. Mobile recharging is possible in numerous commercial establishments, including stores and mini-markets, and from street vendors.

As WiFi is not so widely available in all locations, you can opt to buy a phone card, especially if you plan to do a lot of excursions or activities outside the hotel.
