Duty-free items in Cape Verde

Travelers can bring luggage consisting of "clothing and objects for personal use, books, tools, instruments and utensils, portable, proper to the profession" to Cape Verde without customs charges or special taxes.

The following goods belonging to the traveler, provided they are of a quantity and quality compatible with their function and social situation, are also considered luggage and admitted free of customs duties for entry into Cape Verde (duty free):

  • Personal jewelry;
  • A camera and five rolls of film;
  • A portable camera and two film reels;
  • A pair of binoculars;
  • A musical instrument, portable;
  • A portable stereo and ten stereo stands;
  • A portable radio receiver;
  • A portable television set;
  • A portable typewriter;
  • A laptop and/or an iPad, Tablet or similar equipment;
  • A stroller for children;
  • A wheelchair for a sick passenger;
  • A bicycle without an engine;
  • A tent and other camping equipment;
  • Sporting goods (a set of fishing tackle, a canoe or kayak less than 5.50 meters long, two tennis rackets and other similar items);
  • 200 Cigarettes, or 50 cigars, or 250 grams of tobacco, or an assortment of these products, provided the weight does not exceed 250 grams;
  • Two liters of wine;
  • A liter of spirits;
  • 0.25 liters of toilet water and 50 grams of perfume and
  • Medicines in quantities corresponding to the traveler's personal needs.

 

Prohibited products

Animals, plants and animal products must present health and phytosanitary certificates to enter Cape Verde.
