Carbeirinho - São Nicolau Island

Little head is a geological formation formed by calcarenites and pyroclastic materials, characterized by a spectacular set of cliffs capriciously sculpted by the erosive action of the sea and the wind. It is located in the municipality of Tarrafal, São Nicolau.

The rocks and caves that make up Carbeirinho have a distinctive palette of colors arranged in such a peculiar way that they seem to have been carved by hand.

The dramatic beauty of Carbeirinho isn't just down to the cliffs. The encounter with the sea also gave rise to a small natural pool, capable of providing restorative baths in the midst of unspoiled nature.

At the base of the cliffs is a small beach where caretta-caretta turtles lay their eggs, as well as a cave accessible at low tide.

Anyone visiting São Nicolau cannot miss this wonder of nature.

Carbeirinho was elected one of the 7 Wonders of Cape Verde in the category "Islets, rocks, pedestals, cliffs and monumental caves in the interior of the territory or surrounded by water".
